Welcome!

HERO of Oklahoma is a voluntary, not-for-profit network of support groups and families dedicated to providing a quality education for their children in a home environment.   Respecting that parents who choose to educate their children at home come from diverse backgrounds, HERO of Oklahoma and its group affiliates have neither membership restrictions, nor any official political, philosophical, or religious position; nor does HERO maintain any stance on any other issue, other than the belief that parents and guardians should remain able to choose home education as a legal education alternative.

This web site provides information specific to homeschooling in Oklahoma.

"Home schoolers from very different backgrounds and with different beliefs and aspirations need to say that our freedom to home school our children is more important than our differences.  In a sense, we are also saying, 'My principles and beliefs are strong enough to withstand your principles and beliefs being felt and expressed more fully.' Or in other words, the fundamental freedom we share must be protected so we can each act on our individual beliefs, for without this freedom we would all be less than we can be with it."
